Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck)
Abdominoplasty is a procedure which improves the contour and appearance of the abdomen by contouring the underlying muscle, removing excess fat and loose skin.
Many factors can affect the contour of your abdomen. Childbirth can stretch abdominal tissues to an extent uncorrectable with exercise, excess fat deposits can produce undesirable bulges or fullness, and loose skin following childbirth or weight loss can result in an unattractive abdomen.
During pregnancy significant stretching of the tissues of your abdomen occurs. After delivery, you can exercise to recover the tone in the muscles themselves, but the tissues which interconnect the muscles may have been stretched and do not respond to exercise. Looseness of the abdominal tissues can result in bulging of the lower abdomen which you may not be able to correct with exercise.
After significant weight loss your abdominal skin may become much looser, and sometimes actually hang downward. Skin does not respond to any type of exercise, but loose skin can be removed during abdominoplasty.
So abdominoplasty does three things: it reshapes the underlying framework of the abdomen to improve shape and contour, it removes excess fat deposits which may be present, and it removes excess skin to improve the overall contour, appearance and shape of the abdomen which concerns you. Dr. Kadesky will discuss with you each area of your abdomen which concerns you. He will explain specifically which of the components of the abdominoplasty will be necessary to achieve the best contour.
Do you feel the need to hide your tummy under clothes because of loose hanging skin, excess fat and protrusion of your abdominal wall?

Brachioplasty / Arm Lift
An arm lift, also known as brachioplasty, reduces excess skin and fat between the underarm and the elbow, reshapes your arm to result in smoother skin and contours, and results in a more toned and proportionate appearance.
Today’s arm lift avoids the long scar from the armpit to the elbow. The excess skin and fat is removed with an incision located just in the armpit. Only the severe cases require the long incision. Unfortunately diet and exercise cannot improve “bat wings.” After healing, patients love their tight, nicely shaped upper arms.
Liposuction, also known as lipoplasty, slims and reshapes specific areas of the body by removing excess fat deposits, improving your body contours and proportion, and ultimately, enhancing your self-image.
Despite good health and a reasonable level of fitness, some people may still have a body with disproportionate contours due to localized fat deposits. These areas may be due to family traits rather than a lack of weight control or fitness.
This “magical” technique can remove liters of fat through incisions smaller than your little finger tip. The results are noticeable right after the procedure. Just wear a compression garment for 6 weeks post op for best results. Most liposculpting patients resume their normal activity 3 days after the procedure. They enjoy their streamlined body silhouette with all their body parts in harmony.
This procedure combines the tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) with the mastopexy (breast lift) and frequently, breast augmentation (see each for more details). The advantages of doing both together are significant saving of time and money. You recover from both procedures at the same time… half the time you’d spend recovering from each procedure done separately. You also save thousands of dollars because it is a more efficient use of the surgeon’s time because the preparation for each surgery takes a long time. There are also advantages of one anesthesia vs. two.
Recovery time is usually the same as a tummy tuck. Light regular activity can begin within a few days. Upper body workouts may begin within a few days as tolerated. Abdominal workouts can resume within about 3 weeks.
The ideal candidates for the “Mommy Makeover” are healthy women who are done having babies, don’t smoke and are not obese. The result is like stepping into a time machine and stepping out with the body you had before your first pregnancy.
